To the extent the show is general admission, I would imagine there is no limitation to the number of VIP tickets they will sell. At a normal show, they usually reserve a row or two at most for Gold VIP tickets which has the meet and greet (gold always has meet and greet with the band to chat and sign and take picures - the soundcheck was an added perk for the UK this tour).

Over here in the UK general admission is normally standing, though there are seats in the upper levels and balconies at most venues. So not seat reservations. But with the VIP tickets you got first admission to the venue when doors opened which was a nice touch. As the soundcheck and meet & greet was 4-5:30 and doors were at seven it meant we could go grab a bite to eat in the hour and a half gap between.
