Let's start this out with one of the bonus tracks off of Grinning Streak. Fog of Writing is probably my favorite of the 3 bonus tracks. What is your take on this song?

Well it's certainly Ed's most personal song lyrically, this time out. I guess it got left of the album for stylistic reasons (plus too many great songs :-) ). It would be interesting to know if he wrote it when he was having his own writing block, ie before he want down south for those collaborations.
As an aside, does anyone have any ideas about why Ed and Kev never collaborate on writing? they seem to gel so well on stage.

What is with BNL leaving off awesome tracks from their albums, lol?! I'm in love with the way the guitar, piano, drums & bass are working together on this song as well as Blacking Out. I seriously keep cranking the two of them up in my car, bc the music is so damn good. As for the words, I'm pretty much the living epitome of Testing 1 2 3, lol. I rarely pay close attention to the words of songs, and quite often have totally wrong interpretations that I prefer. But in regards to the idea of "Writers Block", its something that most animators rarely experience bc it takes us so damn long to make animation. More often we spend our time going crazy bc we can't begin to start all the ideas that we have. It's interesting to see the creative process from a more instant form of gratification, where you do have to struggle to figure out what you'll do next.

I can see two different messages in the lyrics of this song. The first is the most obvious, writers block. That is the given. But in looking deeper, I can see it also as a song about trying to make someone see why you took the actions or direction you did in your life. Trying to make that person understand why you did what you did, and hoping that they can, in time, accept what you did and let you back into their life.
But then again, like dawezl, I could be totally off, but that is the feeling I got from it!
