I really like their cover of "Oh Yoko" by John Lennon. It suits them really well and the banjo is killin. They also have an amazing cover of "Wonderin" by Neil Young which Kevin sings appropriately.
What's your fav?

I can't think of any songs covered by BNL (except those they do in concert), and didn't realize they'd done the ones you mentioned. "Oh, Yoko" has never been one of my favorites, but BNL does it as well as John, IMO (but is that an organ I hear in the middle? Not crazy about that addition). I like that Steve throws a little "All You Need Is Love" in at the end, just as the Beatles threw in a bit of "She Loves You" at the end of AYNIL. Fun continuity.
I'll look for "Wonderin" -- in a weird coincidence, a few weeks ago I had some BNL disc on and it was playing a song with Ed doing vocals -- can't remember which. My husband commented that he sounded like Neil Young at the time.
Looking forward to learning what other covers are out there.

careless whisper is a great one. I think Steven and Ed sung it together.

I would second Careless Whisper! Love that one. Or When Doves Cry. Both awesome!

My favorite Barenaked Ladies Cover would have to be "Lovers In A Dangerous Time". (the original being by Bruce Cockburn) I heard the original, and then listened to the BNL cover, and I loved the cover the best! BNL did a great job, and usually cover songs aren't great, or they are okay, but I loved their version better than the original. Which says a lot about the talent that The Barenaked Ladies have. They are a great group of musicians, who make music, and are always getting better and better each time.

Listened to some of these - L in a DT is far superior by BNL -- I'd never heard the original, but in listening to it, it sounds very dated. I can almost see the big 80s hair and scrunchies as the song plays. I also preferred Careless Whisper by BNL, though I've never been a big George Michael fan. Apparently Prince doesn't like his stuff on youtube - all the videos have been removed or altered. :-(

Psycho Killer! As good if not better than the Talking Heads. Ed even speaks French!

Bruce does an acoustic version of the song (which Steve once or twice joined him on) which I really love and uses that thumping fingerpick bass style that he is known for. It also features his softer more raspy voice which I think is right up there with BNL's version. Rio is another great cover that I think surpasses the original but with less of a "remake" and more of just having more energy than the original. I love the emotion and power of BNL's version of Close To You as well. Other covers for your consideration include When Doves Cry, Fox On The Run medley, Fight the Power, McDonald's Girl... I'm sure there are plenty more.

Another good cover that they performed mostly on the Everything to Everyone tour was Roadrunner, which I enjoyed.
