Living in Toronto, I'm privileged to be able to catch BNL at some more casual venues and shows. I love hitting up the smaller clubs and whenever I can I go see Kevin Hearn perform his solo material.
Any other fans of Kevin's solo work? If so what's your favourite album? If you haven't checked it out yet ...you should!!
"Ball Of Twine" is an older song off 2003's "Nightlight." Great lyrics and bouncy feel with a super awesome half-time part on the chorus! Best lyric? "But I remember you would scold "You can't play Abbey Road In the shuffle mode!"
This beautiful song, "Tell Me Tell Me" , is from Hearn's most recent (and best) album "Cloud Maintenance"
The great video accompanying the song was created by Michael Phillip Wojewoda who produced Gordon, AIGT, BOAPS, and Snacktime!

I am insanely jealous that you've gotten to see Kevin Hearn perform live. He's only been in the states a few times since I've become a fan and his shows were always at bars with an age restriction. As far as favorite album/song? Hmm... Nightlight as a whole has a special place in my heart but I think I've listened to stuff off The Miracle Mile more like "Lancaster Bomber" or "Southbound."

Honestly, I tend to completely forget about Kevin's music until something comes up on shuffle and surprises me. Recently "Northland Train" from Cloud Maintenance came up and blew me away.
Sadly, I have yet to see him live - he never seems to venture west! I may have to make a Toronto pilgrimage one day...

I'm a huge fan of Kevin Hearn's solo work! The album I currently can't stop listening to is Cloud Maintenance. My favorite songs on the album are Tell Me Tell Me and Grey Garden. Our whole family loves Monsters Anonymous, my kids always ask to hear it in the car. I also think H-wing is an amazing album. I would love to see him perform live!

Big fan of Kevin and Thin Buckle as well. Night Light and Here Come the Chimebell Trains are two of my favorites from Night Light, which was the first album of his that I sought out. Have spent the last year collecting the rest of Kevin's albums. Enjoying them all! So some new favorites may emerge with repeat listens to his other albums.
There are many excellent YouTube videos available. Not quite like being there, but Toronto is a long drive for me.

I don't live in Toronto, but I do manage to get there fairly frequently... been to a few fairly obscure shows. Kevin does put on a great show. I don't know as I have a favorite album of his though. I enjoy them all. It was kind of special to have been at the cd release show for Cloud Maintenance so I guess maybe that one is a favorite in a way. So many memories from Kevin's shows... looking forward to the next. Don't know when it will be, but hopefully early in the new year. He mentioned wanting to do some writing this fall for Thinbuckle (of course BNL are touring then too)... hopefully we won't have to wait too long.

Just saw that retweet about Kevin going into the studio with Gavin Brown to do a new Thin Buckle album. How good is that!!!!!!!

Exciting to hear that Kevin and Gavin are working on an album together. One of my favorite "behind the scenes of Grinning Streak" episodes are the two of them working on the outro to Crawl on the synth. Have even started listening to other bands that Gavin works with like Metric.
